Solutions Architect - (Payments) (Contract)
We are seeking an accomplished Solutions Architect
to lead the strategic design and architectural direction for a critical payments program. This high-priority engagement focuses on addressing technical debt and defining the clear future-state architecture for a major client.
The role is focused on strategic analysis, design, and governance, working directly alongside the embedded Domain Specialist.
Engagement Details
- Role: Senior Architect (Strategy and Design Focus)
Contract Status: Outside IR35
Initial Duration: 12 Weeks
Start Date: January 2026
Rate: £500 - £550 per day (Negotiable based on experience)
Working Pattern: Hybrid, aligned with Domaina Specialist working patterns.
Scope of Work
The Architect will be responsible for establishing architectural clarity, coherence, and long-term stability:
Architectural Review: Conduct a detailed review of the current state architecture across relevant platforms and services.
Technical Debt & Constraint Identification: Identify, document, and quantify constraints, pain points, and areas of technical debt.
Target Architecture Definition: Define and formally document a clear, robust Target Architecture supported by sound rationale.
Strategic Roadmapping: Develop strategic options, recommendations, and roadmaps to set the direction of travel for the initiative.
Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate closely with the Domain Specialist to ensure architectural decisions align with the broader client context and programme objectives.
Artefact Production: Generate all necessary architectural artefacts required for informed decision-making.
Candidate Profile
Proven experience as an Solutions Architect or Lead Designer, with a strong focus on strategic analysis and architectural definition.
Demonstrable experience in assessing technical debt and defining successful future-state designs in complex enterprise environments.
Excellent ability to document, articulate, and present complex technical designs and trade-offs to both technical and senior leadership audiences.
Experience in high-volume platform environments; payments domain experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
