Position: Linux Engineer

Your Responsibilities:
As Senior Linux DevOps Engineer, you join the end to end datacentre infrastructure team which is responsible for the design and operations of the network, compute, virtualization and storage platforms. You will join a team of self-starters that work based on incoming events from the platforms and projects originating from our internal customers or from within the team with regards to platform evolutions and optimization. Your responsibilities include:
- Daily operations & reporting:
- Maintenance of existing park of installed systems (VMware, Redhat linux, IPA, x86 based on Synergy), handling incoming alarms & perform (capacity) monitoring.
- Maintaining existing toolsets (git, ansible, Redhat satellite, Nexus Repository, …)
- Daily operations (including access management) & treatment of alarms, both tactical actions in resolving alarms
- Instrumenting and tuning the reporting to get only actionable alarms in the Splunk environment and to provide a single pane of glass for the datacentre infrastructure, main sources are VMware VROPS, HP Oneview and Nagios.
- Participation to a standby role during non-working hours (1week/month)
- Project Delivery
- Deliver extensions to existing platforms
- Delivery of new environments to our internal customers using homegrown automation, mostly Linux systems on Vmware
- Evolve our Kubernetes environment (on VMware/OpenStack) to a production grade environment with alarming and operational manuals. Including disaster recovery testing, failover testing and load testing.
- Selection of projects from the delivery roadmap:
- Upgrade systems to RH8
- Onboarding of platforms on our centralized access management solution
- Virtual infrastructure lifecycle automation
- Implement storage monitoring & alerting
- SFTP-proxy redevelopment: architecture and logic
- Linux OS patching in collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Automation
- Creation & preparation of ansible playbooks to automate the delivery of solutions for our internal customers
- Drive the VMware automation by building the necessary framework, tooling & procedures and by stimulating the use of the recommended scripts and tools within the organization.
- Identify, propose and implement automation opportunities in our daily operations
Position is located in Brussels and will require participation in a 24/7 guard duty system, 1 week per month
Your skills:
You have a proven experience of at least 5 years as a SW Technical Leader. This experience covers a.o. following technical skills:
- Ansible (solid experience)
- Proficiency with Linux systems and deep understanding on how they work
- Redhat
- Redhat Satellite
- Strong scripting skills (python)
- Understanding of CI/CD and experience implementing pipelines using common tools (git, gitlab ci-runners, Jenkins, nexus, etc)
- Strong analytical and communicative skills
Will be an advantage:
- Experience with Terraform
- Experience with modern monitoring solutions: nagios, zabbix, Prometheus, others
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concept and experience implementing it in prod
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Experience with enterprise VMware products
- Experience with OpenStack, Ceph
- Experience with Splunk
- Experience with HP Oneview
