DevOps Engineer

Salary: £400 - £500 inside IR35

Location: London/remote

Start date and duration: ASAP, 6-8 Months, renewable

THE COMPANY

Consol Partners' client is a leading supplier of Network, Wireless and Security Professional Services by delivering innovation, quality and reliability. Consol Partners' client is looking for a DevOps engineer that will combine both software and systems engineering and take charge of automation, performance, stability, reliability and scalability of IT infrastructure and services for critical investment banking applications.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Design and build infrastructure that will support an ever-growing set of records to be used by financial institutions worldwide.
  • Design and deploy systems to streamline deployment of new software, and ease burden of supporting said new software.
  • Automate server provisioning processes to reduce human intervention.
  • Maintain system up-time and availability.
  • Maintain production systems by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health.
  • Requisitioning new infrastructure to anticipate and address growing volumes.
  • Test the resiliency of IT operations.
  • Communicate with third party vendors to handle infrastructure enquiries, issues or requests.
  • Problem and incident management and root-causes analysis on high severity outages.
  • Deploy changes and upgrades to the platform on weekends for major releases

The Individual

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Software development background with practical experience in managing builds, deployment and operation as a continuous automated process
  • Classification Protected Version 1.1
  • Solid DevOps experience for the past 2 - 3 years.
  • Very strong administration skills (particularly Linux).
  • Strong system architecture and design knowledge and experience.
  • Experience in cloud services particularly in AWS infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
  • Must have experience in one or more of the following: Shell script, Python, Ruby, Java or JavaScript.
  • Security minded with a high-level understanding of cryptographic algorithms, secure communication protocols, and secrets management systems.
  • Familiar with various CI/CD and defining build/test/deploy pipelines in code.
  • Capable of learning our coding languages and interpreting the business logic of our production codebase.
  • Strong working knowledge of networking.
  • Working knowledge on MongoDB, and configuration management.
  • Candidate must bring their own skills and expertise to sometimes create unusual solutions.
  • Banking/financial industry experience desired but not required.
  • Availability for on-call support to address production issues or incidents.
